Successful debut: Diamond Spirits Award

The first edition of the new Spirits Award saw the team around organizer Jens Kalrait start with 160 entries from 20 countries. Spirits from Germany, India, Brazil, China and Mexico were among the participants.

In addition to the tasting by the jury, which also included BREWING AND BEVERAGE INDUSTRY INTERNATIONAL editor Christoph Seifried,  according to international standards and was led by the spirits experts Arthur Nägele and Bernd Schäfer, a new way of tasting was also introduced: The measurement of brain waves in the reward center of two tasters.

In addition to the gold, silver and bronze awards, the five spirits with the highest scores were awarded the Diamond Spirits Award.

The winners of the Diamond Spirits Awards:

Rum: Rum Nation Jamaica white by DTS & W
Whisky: Torf vom Dorf by Elch-Whisky
Liqueur: Johannisbeerlikör by Obstbau & Brennerei Fritz-Martin Mozer
Fruit brandy: Vinschger Marille by der Schwarzer Brennerei
Gin: Dutch Courage Dry Gin by Zuidam
