Axereal acquires Cargill’s malt business

Axereal, France's largest grain cooperative, announced the acquisition of Cargill’s malt business on behalf of its subsidiary, Boormalt. As stated by Axereal, this acquisition strengthens its position globally, and makes Boormalt one of the world's leading players in the production of malt.

This acquisition sees Boormalt taking over all Cargill Malt activities: 16 malthouses in 9 countries, nearly 600 employees, and with a total production capacity of 1.7 million tonnes.This will bring the total capacity of the Boormalt Group to 3 million tons with 27 malting plants on 5 continents. The headquarters of Boormalt as well as the R&D center will remain in Antwerp, Belgium.
